The Costa Rica School of Massage Therapy is the premier study abroad program in the world for Massage Therapy Certification! Graduates receive an outstanding education and launch themselves into the massage therapy industry as powerful competitors with qualifications to practice legally in a majority of the United States, and many other places in the world. Committed to excellence, and maintaining the tradition of massage as an art form; the education at CRSMT balances the sciences of the human body, the artistic techniques of massage and bodywork, modern business strategies, and holistic lifestyle principles. An underlying acknowledgment and celebration of the human spirit creates personal and spiritual depth to the program.
The Costa Rica School of Massage Therapy is an NCBTMB Assigned School and all massage therapy related education offered by CRSMT is recognized by and counts towards the educational requirements of Board Certification. CRSMT is also a member of the American Massage Therapy Association and the Alliance for Massage Therapy Education. This unique Costa Rica Massage program is for English-speaking students who wish to study massage abroad in a beautiful, exotic, and natural environment.
The Costa Rica School of Massage Therapy is delighted to offer many Continuing Education opportunities to alumni and massage therapists around the world! Some examples of weekend workshops offered by visiting instructors include Oncology Massage, Prenatal Massage, Lomi Lomi, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Anatomy & Physiology of Yoga, Reiki, and Anatomy Trains for Manual Therapists. We offer learning opportunities for personal and professional growth to anyone interested in broadening their expertise or experience in holistic health and wellness.
The Costa Rica School of Massage Therapy also proudly offers a 100 hour Asian Modalities Certificate Program twice each year. Students of the Asian Modalities Certificate Program learn how to perform two types of Asian bodywork, shiatsu from Japan and Thai massage from Thailand, which are based on balancing energetic systems of the body. To give students a solid foundation of knowledge to support the hands-on skills learned, the history of these modalities is presented, along with traditional Chinese medicine, including Qi, Yin Yang theory, Five Element theory, channels (meridians), tsubo, as well as principles of traditional Thai medicine.
In addition to massage education, the CRSMT campus also hosts the CR School of Yoga offering a comprehensive, Yoga Alliance Approved, 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training! In this program students use the chakra system to explore 36 yoga poses, pranayama, philosophy, holistic lifestyle, and meditation. Whether your desire is to deepen your private practice or teach others, this program will enrich your knowledge of the entirety of hatha yoga. Taught by instructors with decades of experience and extensive education, this program will give students a strong foundation in western and eastern anatomy, physiology, and philosophy. Our students will have the building blocks to continue a lifelong study of yoga and understand how to spread and share that knowledge with clarity and simplicity.
We are committed to providing a platform for students to explore any and all of the healing arts including massage and bodywork, dance, yoga, nutrition, and much more. Please contact us to find out about these exciting opportunities!
